About

Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS) is an all- India Charitable society that works towards improving the lives of People with Parkinson's and their families in India. The society was founded in 2001 by Dr. B.S. Singhal, renowned neurologist from Bombay Hospital, and the society currently has a reach in 24 states in India. They provide free- of - cost multidisciplinary rehabilitation and services and conduct programmes and host various initiatives to raise awareness and sensitivity towards Parkinson's in all communities in India. Currently the PDMDS is conducting online support group sessions as well as phone counseling and special sessions for caregivers. They also host informative webinars with neurologists and other healthcare professionals in various regional languages on various topics related to Parkinson's. The PDMDS aims to create networks to connect the Parkinson's community in India with the motto "Together we move better".

In the past PDMDS organised a fundraising event 'Shake it Up For Parkinson's which provided a platform for designers like Neeta Lulla, Nivedita Saboo and Pria Kataria Puri to showcase their collection. Princess Francoise Sturdza, Smita Thackeray founder of Mukti Foundation, Sandhya Shetty, Shibani Kashyap, Sonnalli Seygall and Teena Singh supported the event and walked the ramp. Niche Entertainments was part of this grand event and organised the production and set the choreography/show direction. There were many performances including a special act put together by PDMDS. Every year PDMDS organises such activities to help spread awareness and this time around they had the Parkinson's Heroes showcase their talent on Niche Radio.
